Shenzhen / Chatsworth, CA –– China Mobile Communications Corporation (CMCC), the world’s largest mobile telecommunications company and Source Photonics Inc., a leading global provider of optical communication products for telecommunication systems and data communication networks, start to collaborate on the standardization of the most cost effective 40Gb/s 40km reach physical layer solution to support the imminent capacity upgrade of CMCC’s packet transport networks (PTN) in the aggregation and core rings for wireless backhaul.
CMCC and Source Photonics have developed a physical layer specification that was jointly proposed to the IEEE study group. Source Photonics 40Gb/s 40km transceivers compliant to the proposed specification have been tested successfully in CMCC’s lab.
“With the increased bandwidth demand from our wireless networks we rely on higher bandwidth networks and transceiver solutions to support our cost, reach and bandwidth requirements. Standardization of 40GBASE-ER4 is a critical step in this process.” says Dr. Han Li, expert from CMCC.
You can see Source Photonics’ 40GbE and 100GbE transceiver portfolio at CIOE conference, booth number 1B17, held in the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center, China, on September 6-9, 2012.
